What are CPCs?
Child Protection Committees (CPC’s) are multi-agency partnerships established at local authority level throughout Scotland. Each Local Authority in Scotland has a Child Protection Committee for their area.
In February 2019, The Scottish Government published Protecting Children and Young People: Child Protection Committee and Chief Officer Responsibilities Guidance (Scottish Government: February 2019) which describes the functions of Child Protection Committees as:
- continuous improvement
- public information, engagement and participation
- strategic planning and connections
- annual reporting on the work of the CPC
